Over 65 million years ago, several districts of Gujarat was a home of a different dinosaurs. Discovery of the fossilized eggs, nest and skeletons are now boasting the monarchy of this giant creature. These fossilized things are now placed in the Indroda dinosaur and Fossil Park in Gandhinagar. Fossils collected from the various part of the Gujarat are now preserved at this site under the observation of Geological Survey of India.

Kutch district is considered as a Jurassic Park by paleontologist. Where several fossilized dinosaur eggs have been discovered in excavations. The dinosaur fossils occur in four separate basins in Gujarat such as Songir Bagh Basin which contains Cretaceous period fossils that are dated almost 79 million years old, the Himatnagar Basin of Balasinor and Raiyoli areas in the southeastern parts of Kheda, Panchamahals and Vadodara, the Dranghadhra Basin including Surendranagar and Rajkot and Kutch Basin.

Examination of fossils shows that different dinosaurs were living in different regions of Gujarat. For example Brontosaurus in Balasinor, Titonosaurus and Megalosaurus were found in Anjar, Tyrannosaurs and Triceratops in Raiyoli at Balasinor

Raiyoli is the second largest breeding site of dinosaur in the world. It acquires 12 acres of area and consists a very unique dinosaur species known as Rahiolisaurus gujaratensis. It has two powerful Hind legs and very short fore legs.There are other 37 species of this giant creature found. Fossils of Rajasaurus narmadensis are also excavated from here. It was most dangerous species and known as India's own T-Rex. Its home ground was in the basin of river Narmada.
